Keep Harry Jerome Open Rally
Thank you to everyone who attended the Keep Harry Jerome Open Rally on Saturday October 30. People spoke on how the closure will impact their personal and group activities. Then everyone paraded around the Harry Jerome site. The crowd stretched over one and half blocks from Londsale to 22nd Street at one point. Dennis Joseph of the Squamish Nation led the parade with his drum. Here is a link to City News coverage of the event.
The closure of the largest Rec Centre on the North Shore is a big deal and affects everyone who lives here.
Comparisons to the closure of the William Griffin Rec Centre a few years ago don’t do justice to the magnitude of the impact of the Harry Jerome closure.
If you haven’t already done so, sign the petition at change.org/KeepHarryJeromeOpen or write to members of the City of North Vancouver council. Find local politician contact information here.
Also, visit the Keep Harry Jerome Open on Facebook page for the latest information.
