Harry Jerome Community Recreation Pool Opening
My grandson and I are still waiting for the Harry Jerome pool to open. A fellow swimmer sent me a picture this week that confirmed there is bit of water in the hot tub. Our friend Cappy, the Capilano River Otter and pool completion prognosticator, tried to sneak a dip in the hot tub, s/he came out with wet feet and was forced to declare no swimming at Harry Jerome for 6 more weeks. The “whisper” openning time is now November / December timeframe provided by my most reliable prognosticator so far.
North Shore Masters Meet October 17 at Hollyburn

Melanie Buggey swims to Vancouver Island in record time
From CBC As It Happens. “When it comes to crossing the Strait of Georgia, most would likely do so in a boat, a ship — any kind of a marine vessel, really.
But not Vancouver Island native Melanie Buggey. She chose to swim.
Just before 7 a.m. local time Tuesday, the 33-year-old stepped into the waters at Reception Point near Sechelt on B.C.’s Sunshine Coast. Eight hours and 42 minutes later, she emerged on the other side of the strait on Vancouver Island at Schooner Cove in Nanoose Bay.”
