North Shore Masters Sprint Meet Highlights

The North Shore Masters Sprint Meet was held on Saturday October 15 from 2:30 to 7:30 PM.

Thank you to all the volunteers, officials, NVRC staff and swimmers who came together to make this a memorable event. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Over 100 swimmers attended; 10 North Shore Masters
  • Over 30 volunteers made it all possible
  • 10 North Shore Masters records set – Ron (2), Rod (2), Antoine (2), Giselle, Andrea, Mike and Richard. Congratulations to all! See Link
  • International flavour provided by Rachel Marsden, a resident of France
  • Lots of support and enthusiasm for the many great swims. See Results

Betty Brussel Inspires All!

Once again this year, we were privileged to have 98 year old Betty Brussel participating in our meet after her triumphant appearance at the BC 55+ Games in Langford. This year Betty has set 10 BC records as a 98 year old. She, also, holds 5 Canadian records and 2 world records. One of our volunteers was so inspired by Betty that she asked for a picture with her and produced a video in her honour. Click here to download and view the video.

Upcoming Meets

Here is the link to the 2022/2023 MSABC Meet Schedule. The next meet is now sanctioned. It is in Naniamo on Saturday November 26 from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Harry Jerome Swimmer Looking for a Home

One of our swimmers is looking for a 3 bedroom (whole house or main floor of a house) starting February or March 2023 for a long term rental. If you know of accommodation like this, please let me know and I will connect you with the interested person.

Open Water Swimming

It looks like the Batchelor Bay crew are settling for another winter of open water swimming! Not for the faint of heart or Neoprene challenged! If you are interested, there is a still very active WhatsApp group called “North Shore Open Water Swim” chatting away and organizing swims.

Million Metre Challenge

North Shore Masters Million Metre challengers have amassed more that 2.5 million metres collectively this year so far and are in the top spot in Canada.
