NVRC Recreational Needs Survey Closes June 23
The plan will help the City and District make decisions related to the development, maintenance and operation of outdoor and indoor facilities such as arenas, pools, gymnasiums, plazas, outdoor courts, fields and parks.
This is a very comprehensive survey that covers all indoor and outdoor facilities and amenities in the City and District. There are many opportunities throughout the survey to provide the reasons for your responses. The last time that information like this was collected it came primarily from consultants with very little public input. The results as you might expect did not reflect actual needs at the time and in the future. That survey is still being used as the basis for planning. This is an excellent initiative that deserves all North Vancouver residents support.

Public survey open to all North Vancouver residents
The survey results, along with other research, will help inform the plan and shape decisions about upgrading existing facilities or building new facilities. Please complete one survey for your entire household. It should take about 20 minutes and your responses are confidential. The surveys close Friday, June 23, 2023. Read the questions-and-answers document to learn more about the survey.
Canadian Masters Championship Meet Results
The Canadian Masters Championship was held in Calgary this year. North Shore Masters had 2 participants. Travis L and myself. Together North Shore Masters earned 4 gold and 4 silver medals. Travis set 4 club records in his “coming back” debut. The venue was an impressive 8 lane, 50 metre competition pool with a small leisure pool at one end and a dive tank at the other. Next door, there was another 8 lane, 50 metre training pool, On the other side, there were a number of full size courts for basketball, tennis, volleyball, etc. Above the courts there was an elevated indoor track. Betty Brussel, the 99 year old inspiration from New West received the Swimming Excellence Award for demonstrating consistent and outstanding results at the highest level of competition in Masters swimming.
