New Year’s Day Gathering after practice Seymour Room Harry Jerome

On January 1 starting about 9:45 AM,there will be a Pot Luck social event. If you swimming, you can join in or if you just want to say hello to your swimming friends just stop by. The only ask is that you follow this link to register your intentions. We have capped attendance at 30 but if interest is sufficient we may be able to open registration up to more people.

Meet results – Nanaimo Meet

As always, the Nanaimo meet was great fun. The entire meet sold out in less than eight hours. Possibly a record for a Masters Meet in BC. Catherine and I were the only participants from North Shore Masters. There post meet Chili Cook off featured over 18 Chili recipes. We saw our old friend Khosro at the meet. Khosro was a key official in the meet who carried needed equipment over in a huge backpack to the meet. When he found out that the 6 am ferry was cancelled. He quickly headed to Downtown Vancouver for a Harbour Air flight to Nanaimo. When we got there at 10:00 AM, Khosro was there and everything was ready to go. He still goes above and beyond to make things happen. Thank you again, Khosro!

Catherine set 4 club records and a BC Record in the 50 Fly, 100 FL, 200 FR, and 400 FR. Her 400 FR result was also a BC Record. Congratulations Catherine!

Upcoming Meets

Victoria LC is on January 24 is waitlist only.

English bay is on February 7. A list of events is available but no meet package yet

Vernon Winter Splash is February 14 and 15. They haven’t declared to meet full. Catherine, Scott and I are going to try the triple crown events.

Very Junior Masters arrive a day after mom’s last swim

Laura, one of our most dedicated swimmers gave birth to twins (Albie and Cohen) a few weeks ago the day after her last swim for a while. Laura and the twins are doing well but looking forward to getting back to the pool. I am sure they are missing those flip turns and underwater dolphin kicks off the wall that mom is so good at. Mom reports that “Both boys are already big fans of bath time, and given that Albie was delivered footling breech, legs straight and feet turned in, I’m fairly certain swimming is in their future. Albie, in particular, seems destined for butterfly with a powerful dolphin kick.”

North Shore Masters T-Shirts

Would you like a North Shore Masters T-Shirt like this? Or do you have better ideas? Some of us are going to participate in a special event that is part the Vernon Winter Splash in February. We are thinking of getting T-shirts made up for this event but wondered if there is anyone else interested in this type of T-Shirt. The one pictured here is a one of a kind that I sometimes wear when I feel deserving of the challenge it represents. Does anyone have any ideas for a slogan for other strokes. There has to something better than “Born to Crawl”

These are great parkas! I have worn mine about 200 times and it still looks almost as good as this picture. Only I look older and have less hair!
